The polarity rule
Each animal has a fixed polarity. The Horse is always Yang — so a "Water Horse" (壬午) is a Yang Water Horse; a Yin Water Horse cannot exist. A Yang branch only pairs with Yang stems, and Yin with Yin — which is why there are 60 stem–branch pillars, not 120.
