I Ching — The Book of Changes

I Ching · Book of Changes · 易经 (Yì Jīng) · 64 Hexagrams · Coin Oracle

The I Ching (易经), the “Book of Changes,” is one of the oldest books in the world — a Chinese classic consulted for over three thousand years for guidance and clarity. Hold a question in mind, cast the three coins, and read the hexagram that answers, drawn from all 64 of the Zhou Yi in plain, modern language.

I Ching

Something on your mind?

Ask anything — hold your question in mind, then cast the coins.

The I Ching — the 3,000-year-old Chinese Book of Changes — has been consulted for guidance and clarity for millennia.

For reflection, not prediction.

How the three-coin oracle works

The traditional method tosses three coins six times. Each toss builds one line of the hexagram from the bottom up — heads and tails deciding whether the line is solid (yang) or broken (yin), and whether it is “changing.” Six lines make one of the 64 hexagrams; changing lines point to a second hexagram, where the situation is quietly headed. Our caster does exactly this — the outcome is genuinely random, the way real I Ching divination is meant to be.

FAQ

What is the I Ching? The I Ching (易经), or Book of Changes, is an ancient Chinese classic used for divination and reflection for over 3,000 years. A question is answered by casting a hexagram — one of 64 six-line figures.

Is this a free I Ching reading? Yes — cast as many times as you like, free. Hold a question in mind, throw the three coins, and read your hexagram.

How is a hexagram cast? By tossing three coins six times. Each throw sets one line, bottom to top; six lines form the hexagram, and any changing lines reveal a second hexagram it is moving toward.

Is the I Ching the same as BaZi? No. The I Ching answers a question in the moment; BaZi (Four Pillars) is your personal birth chart. For a reading grounded in your own chart, generate your free BaZi chart.
