Understanding Your Chart
Click any concept to learn what it means in BaZi. Every term used across your readings is explained here.
How Does It Work?
Your Four Pillars chart — the year, month, day, and hour of your birth — encodes the unique pattern of energy you arrived with. The five elements (Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, Water) were arranged at your first breath in a specific balance, and that balance shapes how you think, decide, connect, and grow. Understanding it is your advantage.
When you can see which elements support you and which ones drain you, which seasons of life align with your nature and which ask you to slow down, you stop wrestling with yourself. You start working with who you are — and the same energy that once felt unpredictable becomes a tool you can use to move through life more freely.
Ming Map's readings are grounded in Zi Ping Zhen Quan (子平真詮) — the 18th-century classical text that defines the Four Pillars pattern system. Every pattern, every Use God, every favorable element comes from a documented classical rule, not invented math. When you open a reading, you're not getting a generic horoscope — you're seeing how your specific pattern meets that specific moment.
How to Read This
Nothing in your chart is about good or bad luck. BaZi simply describes how five energies move through your life. When a star or element is marked Challenging, it is not predicting misfortune — it points to where your energy runs out of balance, an area that simply asks for a little awareness. Those very areas are often where the most growth happens, and a challenge met well becomes one of the most memorable parts of the gift of life. Read every section here as information you can work with — never as a verdict.
What This Means
Everything in BaZi is built from five kinds of energy: Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water. They are not literal substances — they are five ways energy behaves. Wood grows and plans, Fire expresses and connects, Earth steadies and supports, Metal refines and completes, Water reflects and flows. Your whole chart is simply your own personal mix of these five.
