Terms of Service

Ming Map ("Ming Map", "we", "us", "our") is the brand under which an independent developer operates this Service from Brunei Darussalam. The Service provides Four Pillars (BaZi, 八字) chart computation and reading content based on classical Chinese metaphysical methods documented in Zi Ping Zhen Quan (子平真詮). Some readings include narrative commentary generated by a third-party large-language model. The Service is offered for personal, non-commercial use, for self-understanding and entertainment.

You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of legal majority in your jurisdiction, if higher) to use the Service. By using the Service you represent and warrant that you meet this requirement. The Service is not directed to and may not be used by children.

The Service is provided for self-understanding, reflection, and entertainment only. It is not professional advice of any kind.

• Not medical advice. Nothing in the Service is a substitute for consultation with a qualified medical, mental health, or other healthcare professional. Do not use the Service to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any condition. If you are experiencing a medical or mental-health emergency, contact your local emergency services immediately.
• Not legal, financial, or business advice. Do not make legal, financial, investment, tax, employment, or business decisions based on Service content. Consult an appropriately licensed professional.
• Not relationship or family advice. Compatibility and Fortune Guide content describes patterns and dynamics; it is not a directive about how to act toward another person.
• Not prediction. BaZi describes patterns of energy in time; the Service does not foretell specific future events. You are responsible for your own choices and outcomes.
• AI-generated content can be wrong. Narrative portions of readings are produced by a large-language model (OpenAI). LLM output can be inaccurate, incomplete, biased, or fabricated. Treat all AI commentary as illustrative starting material, not authoritative fact.

The Service does not require you to create an account. We do not issue you usernames, passwords, or other credentials. You are responsible for the security of the device you use to access the Service.

To use the Service you provide birth information (date, time, and location of birth) for yourself and, optionally, for other individuals whose charts you wish to save or compare. By providing another person's birth information you represent and warrant that:

• you have the legal right to provide that information; and
• you will use any reading or commentary you generate about that person only for your own personal, non-commercial use.

Certain features of the mobile application require a paid subscription ("Ming Map Pro"). The web application does not sell subscriptions; web features that are mobile-only display a notice directing you to the mobile application.

6.1 Billing

Subscriptions are sold and billed by Apple App Store (on iOS) or Google Play (on Android), not by Ming Map. By purchasing a subscription you accept the terms of the applicable store. We do not receive your payment card details.

6.2 Auto-renewal

Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period (monthly or annual, as you selected) unless you cancel before the renewal date. The price charged is the price displayed at the time of renewal. Apple or Google will notify you of price changes as required by their policies.

6.3 Cancellation

You can cancel auto-renewal at any time through your Apple ID settings or Google Play account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; you retain Pro access until then. Ming Map cannot directly cancel a subscription on your behalf — only the store can.

6.4 Refunds

Refunds are handled exclusively by Apple or Google according to their respective refund policies. To request a refund, contact Apple Support or Google Play Support. Ming Map does not directly issue refunds. We may, at our discretion, contact Apple or Google to support a refund request in exceptional cases.

6.5 Restore Purchases

If you reinstall the application or move to a new device using the same Apple ID or Google account, use the "Restore Purchases" option inside the application to recover your Pro entitlement. Because we do not maintain accounts, purchases are tied to your store account, not to a Ming Map account.

6.6 What Pro unlocks

The features included in Ming Map Pro are described inside the paywall at the time of purchase. We may change the feature composition of Pro from time to time. Any change that materially reduces Pro features will be communicated in the application before it takes effect.

You agree not to:

• use the Service in any way that violates any applicable law or regulation;
• resell, sublicense, or commercially distribute Service output;
• reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to derive the source code of the Service, except to the extent that applicable law expressly permits this despite the restriction;
• use any automated means (scraper, bot, headless browser, etc.) to access the Service at a rate or volume that exceeds normal human use;
• circumvent or attempt to circumvent any rate-limit, paywall, entitlement check, or other technical restriction in the Service;
• submit content that is unlawful, harassing, defamatory, infringing, or otherwise objectionable;
• use the Service to attempt to identify, dox, surveil, or harm any specific individual;
• impersonate another person or misrepresent your relationship with them when submitting their birth information.

We may suspend or terminate access to anyone we reasonably believe is violating these acceptable-use terms.

The Service, including the source code, design, copy, classical rule tables, narrative templates, and all other content authored or curated by Ming Map (collectively, the "Materials"), is owned by Ming Map and is protected by copyright and other intellectual-property laws. Classical Chinese metaphysical concepts and the Zi Ping Zhen Quan text itself are in the public domain; our particular expression, organization, code, and interface are not.

Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service and view its output for your own non-commercial purposes. You may not reproduce, distribute, publicly display, or create derivative works from the Materials beyond what is permitted by this license or by applicable copyright exceptions (e.g. fair use).

You retain ownership of the birth information you submit. By submitting it you grant Ming Map a worldwide, royalty-free license to use it solely as needed to operate the Service for you (e.g. compute readings, transmit chart facts to processors as described in the Privacy Policy).

The Service depends on third-party providers (Cloudflare, OpenAI, Apple, Google, RevenueCat, the user's own operating system and browser). We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, content, or practices of those providers. Their services are governed by their own terms and privacy policies. The Privacy Policy lists the providers we use.

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Ming Map disclaims all warranties, express, implied, or statutory, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, non-infringement, and quiet enjoyment. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components, that defects will be corrected, or that any content (including AI-generated content) will be accurate, complete, current, or reliable.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties; in those jurisdictions, the exclusions above apply only to the extent permitted by law.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Ming Map will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, or other intangible losses, arising out of or relating to your use of the Service.

Ming Map's total aggregate liability for all claims arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service will not exceed the greater of: (a) the amount you paid Ming Map (through Apple or Google) for the Service in the twelve (12) months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) one hundred United States dollars (US$100).

Some jurisdictions do not allow the limitation or exclusion of certain damages; in those jurisdictions, the limitations above apply only to the extent permitted by law.

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Ming Map and its officers, directors, employees, contractors, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses, including reasonable attorneys' fees, arising out of or in any way connected with (i) your use of the Service, (ii) your violation of these Terms, (iii) your violation of any third-party right, including the privacy or other rights of another individual whose birth information you submitted, or (iv) any content you submit to the Service.

You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service, in whole or in part, at any time and without notice, if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms, or if we discontinue any feature of the Service. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including Sections 8, 10, 11, 12, 14, and 15) will survive.

These Terms and any dispute arising out of or relating to them or the Service are governed by the laws of Brunei Darussalam, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. The United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods does not apply.

You and Ming Map agree to first attempt to resolve any dispute informally by contacting rekhaman@protonmail.com. If a dispute cannot be resolved informally within sixty (60) days, it will be brought exclusively in the courts of Brunei Darussalam, and you and Ming Map consent to personal jurisdiction in those courts. Nothing in this section limits any mandatory consumer-protection right you may have under the laws of your country of residence.

Entire agreement. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any feature-specific terms presented inside the Service, constitute the entire agreement between you and Ming Map concerning the Service.

Severability. If any provision of these Terms is held unenforceable, that provision will be enforced to the maximum extent permissible, and the remaining provisions will remain in full force.

No waiver. Our failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver of our right to enforce it later.

Assignment. You may not assign these Terms. We may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.

Language. These Terms are written in English. Any translation is provided for convenience; in the event of a conflict, the English version controls.

Changes. We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Effective date" at the top of this page. Material changes will be highlighted in the Service. Continued use of the Service after a change becomes effective constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
